Stunning new high-definition video shows the Earth setting over the Moon's horizon

It is the beautiful sight that only a select few astronauts have ever had the privilege to experience.

Now a stunning video released by Japan's space agency has given us all the chance to find out what it's like to view the Earth from space.

This incredible footage shows our planet as it rises and then sets over the Moon's horizon.

Taken by Japan's space agency, the Earth appears as a brilliant blue orb set against the blackness of space as it slowly comes into view above the lunar landscape.

The crystal-clear images were taken by Japan's Kaguya probe with the first high-definition camera ever taken on a Moon mission.
