Police struck several anti-war protesters with batons in Brighton while concealing their identity numbers, a demonstration organiser has claimed.

Chloe Marsh, a spokeswoman for the anti-war group Smash EDO, said she had received reports of at least 30 injuries suffered by protesters at the rally.

She alleged some demonstrators were struck with police batons by officers who were concealing their identity numbers.

The accusation comes just weeks after accusations of police violence at the G20 protests in London.

Sussex Police were unable to comment on the Brighton demo allegations overnight, but earlier condemned the protesters for their "unjustified acts of violence".
