Surveillance cameras coming to high schools ALISON HERGET / Asbury Park Press | March 22 2006 MIDDLETOWN — The Board of Education Tuesday night awarded a $39,929 contract to Promedia Technology Services to provide software for surveillance cameras to be placed in the district's two high schools. Acting Superintendent Karen Bilbao said school officials are to begin discussions this week on where the cameras will be put and how many will be used in high schools North and South. It is expected that the cameras will be in use by the end of the school year, Bilbao said. The move to install a video surveillance system, she said, is in part a reaction to the 13 bomb scares that have troubled Middletown schools this school year. "It's in response, but it's also to supplement our current safe-schools initiatives,'' she said.
