Library workers upset over surveillance cam Giselle Phelps A small security camera is causing a big controversy in Ithaca. Workers at the Tompkins County Public Library are upset they were being watched. Library Director Janet Steiner suspected money was being taken from the library donation box. Steiner then contacted the Ithaca Police Department, who placed a surveillance camera in a clock radio. Employees discovered the camera and were not happy. 35 of the library's workers signed a petition and brought it to County Legislative Chair Tim Joseph. The petition reads as follows: "We, the employees of the Tompkins County Public Library, wish to write an open letter to the Library Board and the County Legislature concerning the recent actions by the Library Director to secretly install a spy camera in our building. We feel that trust, respect and privacy is important at our workplace. We need positive leadership and integrity. We need a leader who will support and energize us, so that we can better serve our patrons." Joseph said that action on this matter is not in his jurisdiction. It will have to be addressed by the library's board of trustees. --------------------------------------------------- Prison Planet.tv: The Premier Multimedia Subscription Package: Download and Share the Truth!
