Fox News Follows Cheney's Orders To Pimp Iran Strike Attytood Recently, we pointed to articles suggesting that as soon as Labor Day arrived and summer ended, a new marketing push would begin for some type of military action in Iran. In particularly, remember this piece of intel:
Well, whaddya you know, it's Sept. 12, and comes now Fox News:
Heh...see, it's all the German's fault. Anyway, the whole article is pretty ridiculous -- it says things like "officials have concluded that the Iranians are unlikely to do much more damage than they already have been able to inflict through their supply of explosives and training of insurgents in Iraq" -- ignoring the fact that Iran could easily wage an overt war against our overstretched troops next door.
Truth is, I don't know if we're going to attack Iran. Yes, there is a certain level of posturing here -- both for Tehran and for the Europeans -- but anyone who's lived through six years of the Cheney Administration shouldn't rule out extreme military folly either. Even if you do support such an extreme move as an aerial bombing campaign in Iran, which would no doubt kill many civilians, such a life-and-death decision would be given the gravity that it deserves, right? It wouldn't be a place for petty political in-fighting, or...gloating? Vice President Cheney and his aides are said to be enjoying a bit of "schadenfreude" at the expense of [Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas] Burns. A source described Cheney's office as effectively gloating to Burns and Rice, "We told you so. (The Iranians) are not containable diplomatically." Doesn't it make you feel good about our leaders when their gloating comes in the form of a mushroom cloud?
