Port Clinton Cameras Look For Drunks, Vandals and Terrorists

ABC 13 | September 15 2004

Federal officials are keeping a close eye on a popular northwest Ohio tourist attraction. Thousands of dollars in federal funding have been funneled to Port Clinton to fight terrorism. Compliments of Federal Emergency Management money, Big Brother is watching through three cameras.

But the "eyes in the sky" have been just as helpful in the ongoing war against drunks and vandals. Thomas Blohm of the Port Clinton police department says, "It's sort of like having officers on top of a pole, 24-7, seeing everything that's going on, and never forgetting anything. The camera doesn't forget."

Each can turn 360 degrees, and they're monitored via the internet, 24-7, by the police department, Jet Express, and the company behind the project.
