Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman has condemned a recent US attack on the Syrian soil which left nine civilians dead and 14 others wounded.

"During the US chopper attack on Syria on Sunday, innocent people were killed, and again children were among the dead," Hassan Qashqavi told reporters at his weekly press conference in Tehran Monday.

He added, "We actually condemn any attack which violates national sovereignty of countries and leads to civilian casualties. Such invasions are unacceptable."

US commandoes in four helicopters on Sunday attacked a civilian building under construction shortly before sundown in al-Sukkariya farm near the town of Abu Kamal, some eight kilometers from the Iraqi border.

The helicopters reportedly left Syrian space with all the troops again on board.
