One in Three Britons Considers Leaving

Short News
Thursday October 04, 2007

According to a YouGov poll at least 1/3 of Britons are thinking about moving away. This number greatly surpasses the number of those convinced that they will stay their whole lives. Last year 200,000 people moved from Britain.

Push factors named included the high cost of housing and the spiralling tax burden on middle class families. Londoners in the 25 to 34 age range were most likely to want to leave.

The UK has been subject to years of rising house prices, 12 months of rising mortgage costs and now the 'credit crunch'. The idea of life abroad with no mortgage is becoming more and more appealing.
