The longer it unfolds, the more I wonder if the new attack on John Kerry was the October Surprise for Bush, "Turd Blossom" Rove and the Republicans.

Bush's criminal forces took one stupid gaffe, lied and distorted it beyond recognition, forced the rhetorical gun barrel back on Kerry (and everyone critical of Bush), and transformed it into a political weapon that forced Kerry to issue an insipid apology, one day after Kerry angrily, and correctly, clarified the basis of his words.

Shades of the stolen election of 2004. Kerry won, and then (bowing miserably to his "handlers") crawled away without a fight, pulling the entire works down with him (either by design, or by default).

It is also a testament to the ignorance of Americans, easily manipulated and exploited with "support the troops" red herrings, easily turned hawkish and bloodthirsty. So dumb, they don't "get" anything. Here again is the shock effect of 9/11 in full flower (make that "turd flower").

Rove wins again. Blackmail wins again.

With about five days left, there is plenty time for more malfeasance. The way things are going that may not even be necessary. Bush's criminals may be in bad shape, but their political opponents are perennially hopeless. Bush will simply ride on Kerry, and Kerry will do nothing about it. The Democrats are well on their way to collapsing before they even get to November 7, which could very well be another party for Bush, encrypted and delivered by Diebold.

And if they do manage to stumble into a couple of seats, just look what is up ahead for America the dead nation: Nancy Pelosi refuses to impeach Bush. Joe Lieberman is baaack. Arnold Schwarzenegger is baaack. "Macaca" Allen more than likely wins. That permanent base in Iraq gets bigger. The US doesn't leave Iraq -- ever. Iran is getting set up for the kill. Need I continue?

The "war on terrorism" rolls on.
