New Jersey Lawmakers Said Considering 'Sin Tax' On Fast Food

Legislators in New Jersey are considering a "sin tax" on fast food, even as skyrocketing energy prices are already driving up the price of buying something to eat.

The notion was first introduced recently at a Jersey Hospital Association meeting where Gov. Jon S. Corzine was attending. He was asked about the feasibility of such an idea and he reportedly responded said it was a "constructive suggestion."

Still, a spokesperson for the governor told a local CBS News affiliate, "The governor is open to reasonable solutions to help solve our financing problems, but there are no plans for any fast food tax."
