Spain slams intimidation against Iran Press

"The issue should be resolved through talks," Jose Montilla made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Spain Davoud Salehi on Wednesday. Montilla opposes any unilateral action against Iran and believes that such measures will not result in the desired effect. "In my opinion, the only way to ease regional tensions and disputes especially in the Middle East is to negotiate based on dominant values in the region," he said. The president, who was previously the Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Trade, also expressed willingness to expand ties with Iran in all areas.
Referring to the extensive volume of trade between Iranian and Mexican companies, he stated that his country has always been in deep and good relations with Iran. The Iranian envoy, for his part, said that the two sides' bonds are progressive, adding the Iranian Embassy is ready to hold meetings for private sectors to become familiar with each other's potentials and facilities either in Tehran or Barcelona. Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi noted that the US and some Western countries are opposing Iran's peaceful nuclear program while they had signed agreements on building nuclear power plants in the country prior to the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. "Iran has frequently announced that it intends to make use of nuclear technology peacefully as a signatory to the NPT," he added. ---------------------------------------------------
