It's time to replace the self-serving members of Congress Dennis E. Kaiser | May 27 2006 On Inauguration Day 2001 a new concept to the “freedom of speech” democracy of the United States of America, the “First Amendment Zones,” came into being. These were the areas where people with dissenting views of George W Bush were herded so the newly crowned dictator would not have to be confronted with any criticism as his past behaviors have shown he does not react well to being criticized. There was little or no mention of these zones by the corporate media nor by any in Congress who are to elected to represent the citizens of the United States. Then came the crime against California and its citizens by Enron in the Spring of 2001. The corporate media zeroed in on the sudden lack of energy and how the people of California should learn to adjust, not the fact the energy supply was being manipulated by energy sources, and definitely not the huge profits being gathered by Enron. Again, there was no intervention by Congress despite the requests from Governor Davis. Davis wound up suing the United States government, but that never came to court because the power elite was able to get Davis out of office before he could and the man they put in, Arnold The Intimidator, was able to quietly withdraw the lawsuit, again without any word from the corporate media -- or Congress. In September 2001, came what has become known as “9/11” occurred without any concern from the corporate media and Congress didn't see fit to investigate what took place, but, rather, simply accepted the official word from the Bush administration, even though there was absolutely no proof of any of what they were selling as their story. The only proof the government could provide are the number of cell phone calls that were supposedly made. These are quite debatable because at that time it was pretty much impossible to make calls from cell phones from airplanes flying above 10,000 feet. In the summer of 2004, QUALCCOM and American Airlines made news, although muffled by the corporate media for reasons that are obvious to those who have sold the 9/11 official story, by having journalists make cell phone calls from airplanes without interruption due to a new chip developed by QUALCCOM. In any event members of Congress were silent in serving the people by demanding a thorough independent investigation of the worst mass murder on American soil in the history of our nation. It was then proposed by the Bush administration that certain rights guaranteed by the Constitution should be stripped. This was accomplished as the majority in Congress did not concern themselves about the rights of their constituents enough to even read the USAPATRIOT Act before they voted to accept it. Again, they took the word of the Bush administration over the well being of their constituents. The war in Afghanistan was a foregone conclusion after accepting the official story of what took place on 9/11. It made no difference that none of the alleged hijackers, no fewer than six of those who allegedly died on that day have been discovered to be alive and well, came from Afghanistan, nor that they were trained right here in the United States, some on US military bases, and not in Afghanistan. It also made no difference that the government of Afghanistan, the Taliban, played no role. Furthermore, it made no difference that plans to invade that country were completed prior to 9/11. Then the war is Iraq. What a travesty that was and has been, but the worst is there was little or no opposition from Congress. Again, most of these members were not directly involved as none of their loved ones would be sent to that nation to die or be maimed. Next we started to experience individuals being arrested for such things as having signs, buttons, or T-shirts that were negative to the Bush administration. Congress appeared to have no concern . Then it was disclosed that American citizens were being illegally wiretapped and phone calls were being listened in on by our government. Congress simply cowered without response when confronted with this information. The immigration of millions of Hispanics then came into the news after months of concern shown by Lou Dobbs. Again Congress showed little concern for the impacts such an influx has on our economy and the well being of their constituents. Instead, they discussed a new law that would make English the official language of the United States. The latest is the news that Rep. William Jefferson had his files taken from his congressional offices by FBI officials and how he was “set up” by that agency. Finally members of Congress are up in arms. I guess this might be proof as to whose well-being they are looking out for. It has been suspected for quite a while after seeing their pay being increased on an annual basis while it has done nothing with the minimum wage paid to constituents. They have done nothing regarding health care for their constituents, yet their health plans are excellent, and they are for life. Their retirement benefits are loaded, yet they show little or no concern for the Social Security system. Unfortunately, until American citizens get active in what's going on within our government, little will change for the positive. It appears the agenda our supposed leaders are on is leading us to Third World status. It has been well known there has been a move to form a “New World Order” and the only way citizens of the United States would even consider this would be to lower their standard of living. That is well on its way to happening. In addition trade agreements, such as NAFTA and CAFTA, simply give large corporations the opportunity to invade and exploit cheap labor while buying up land the citizens of other countries had used for a livelihood. It also gives these corporations the right to sue the countries they have invaded, should the countries attempt to impose environmental or other regulations the company does not agree with. There is no mention of the effectiveness of NAFTA to the citizens of Mexico yet after a decade. Mexican citizens are forced to enter the United States in order to find jobs where they can make a living wage. After nearly six years it should be apparent our representatives are planning to do nothing for us. Therefore we must take a stand, regain control of votes and make certain none of these people are re-elected. I know there are a few, Feingold and Murtha come to mind as of late, but we need to send a message that we, the people, are in charge of our nation and if they are not going to serve us, they need to hit the road. With poll numbers indicating a vast majority are against what is taking place in our society and with no action being taken by Congress, what more do we need to know they are looking out only for themselves and not hearing us? The 2006 election can be a pivotal one for the survival of our country. However, again, Congress has done absolutely nothing to ensure safe and fair elections. They have only allowed them to get worse by advocating Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia machines to control the count of votes. Imagine, corporations, not the people are deciding who and how we are represented. --------------------------------------------------- Prison Planet.tv: The Premier Multimedia Subscription Package: Download and Share the Truth!
