Semantic Web will bring privacy nightmare Nick Farrell / The Inquirer | May 25 2006 ATTEMPTS TO make the Interweb more intelligent will create a privacy nightmare, according to a University of Southampton professor. Hugh Glaser said that moves to build a "semantic web", will create problems because it attempts to deliberately combine multiple sources of information about people and places. The semantic web is being touted as the future of the Interweb, it will be designed to suck in information and process it into a coherent picture of a person or object. While most people see this as a really cool thing when you are trying to build up a picture of flu epidemics, for example, Glaser is less happy about the information that the Web can build up on people. According to the Beeb, semantic software has been developed, but it will a long old while before the Web can respond to it in any coherent way. When it does, everything about you which is on the Net will be known by Big Brother. Which, given the standard of that telly show these days, is really scary. --------------------------------------------------- Prison Planet.tv: The Premier Multimedia Subscription Package: Download and Share the Truth!
