RAF are watching the football THE Royal Air Force is keeping a watchful eye over the World Cup tournament in Germany - using a fleet of state-of-the-art surveillance aircraft. The E-3D early warning aircraft, based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, are part of a Nato force providing extra security during World Cup matches and ceremonies. They are supporting German air surveillance at the request of the German authorities. Minister for the Armed Forces, the Rt Hon Adam Ingram MP said: "England and all the other teams can play secure in the knowledge they, and as importantly thousands of spectators, will be safe under the eyes of the RAF." ---------------------------------------------------
