Anthrax Alert At Commons A man is in police custody following an anthrax alert in the House of Commons, sending Parliament into lock-down. It took over 30 minutes before police gave the "all-clear". Sky News' Political Correspondent Jon Craig was on the scene just moments after the incident and said that a man being arrested on site had shouted: "You could all be dead, you could all be dead." Craig added: "In the Central Lobby a powder was found. A man was detained and he told police it was anthrax." Eyewitnesses said the powder spill was about 5ft wide on the floor and police in full chemical masks and uniform were on site. The arrested man has been described as white, aged about 40 and balding with grey hair. The powder on the floor One woman told Sky News: "He started saying things about the High Court and how corrupt everything is - he was going on a bit of a tirade." The woman added that a crowd had gathered around the man and given him a round of applause as he finished his rant - seconds before he started throwing the powder out of a plastic envelope. Black Rod confirmed that testing has been carried out on the substance. Sir Michael Willcocks, who is responsible for security at the Palace of Westminster, said there was concern that a large number of people had trodden in the powder. MPs and peers were locked inside while security checks were carried out and Central Lobby was cleared. It is believed that the man arrested had been protesting against a ruling in the House of Lords. --------------------------------------------------- Prison Planet.tv: The Premier Multimedia Subscription Package: Download and Share the Truth!
