Iran slates recent EU proposals

Iran says the current western proposals are tantamount to a time-out in the country's uranium enrichment activities and suggest nothing new.

“Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana have already discussed the issue and they will reconsider the proposal if necessary,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said on Sunday during his weekly press briefing.

Asked if Iran was willing to reconsider the proposals, he answered, “Any proposal which respects Iran's rights will be taken into consideration.”

All proposals hitherto made have both positive and negative aspects and their technical details require thorough examination, he concluded.
