Microsoft, IBM fingered over biometric code

INTERNATIONAL AUTOMATED Systems (IAS) said it has started legal action against Microsoft, IBM and other companies, claiming they've breached patents itowns.

The patents are 6,191,410; 6,255,641; and 6,444.969.

These patents relate to sensing fingerprint, hands, retina and autogenerating a digital code.

The code is then used to identify an individual, with IAS saying the market will be worth $5.7 billion by 2010.
