Bush crashes bike into policeman at G8 US President George Bush has collided with a police officer while riding his bike around the grounds of the Gleneagles hotel on the eve of the G8 summit. According to a White House spokesman, the American President suffered scrapes on his arms and legs after hitting the policeman while cycling at a “good speed”. Mr Bush’s injuries were not serious although his wounds required some bandaging from White House physician Richard Tubb. The police officer involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital and although the extent of his injuries is not yet known, it is believed that he may have suffered an ankle injury. President Bush was concerned about the policeman’s condition and spoke to the officer from Strathclyde Police for some time following the crash, which occurred during a period of light rain. Mr Bush also asked his physician to monitor the officer’s condition. But the collision did not affect the President’s schedule and he attended a dinner hosted by the Queen this evening, wearing an unscathed dinner jacket. |
