Oswego police install camera on First Street

News 10 Now | July 14 2004

Police in Oswego have Big Brother on their side.

They've installed a video camera on a light pole at West First and Bridge Streets.

Investigators say it's a great way to solve crimes like fights, vandalism, accidents, and even break-ins.

The camera can see 360 degrees and can zoom in close.

Recently it helped officers nab a repeat burglar at King Arthur's Restaurant.

"The fifth time he was caught because he broke in from the outside on First Street and the police actually caught him red-handed on their sky-cam,” restaurant worker Tony Pauldine.

Not everyone likes being under watchful eye of the police.

Some people News 10 Now spoke with believe the camera is an invasion of privacy.
