| China targets 'degenerate thinking' on YouTube London
Telegraph Internet users in China could be blocked from sites such as YouTube as authorities announced they would no longer tolerate the "broadcast of degenerate thinking". The Chinese government announced that all video-sharing websites must have official approval before they can be accessed by its subjects. New rules governing online content announced by the state administration of radio, film and television also say that only state-owned and controlled companies would be given licences to upload video. "Those who provide internet video services should insist on serving the people and abide by the moral code of socialism," the guidelines say.
The results would not only see the nation's 150 million internet users blocked from watching "novelty" videos, but a host of factual, historical and political videos that have been uploaded to such sites.
