Russia to Complete Iranian Nuclear Plant on Time — Official

Russia’s Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov in his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stressed his country’s pledge to complete Bushehr nuclear power plant project on the scheduled date, Iranian news agency IRNA reports.

Press and Information Department of Iran’s Foreign Ministry in a report added the two sides also discussed bilateral relations, regional and international developments and nuclear issues at the meeting.

Referring to the diplomatic capacity of Russia, Mottaki mentioned that the two country’s could play a more effective role in regional security, specifically in Central Asia and the Caucasus region through more efficient cooperation.

Iranian foreign minister also sought an increase in the level of the economic infrastructures given the current economic ties.

For his part, Ivanov noted the effective role of Iran in the region and said constant consultations on regional issues with Iran is one of the objectives of Russian officials’ visit to Tehran.

Ivanov also stressed the need to increase the volume of economic relations in the two country’s bilateral commission and following up the agreements until final result is achieved.

He added Russia strictly pursues all the agreed projects in the commission.
