GM to install ESP and OnStar in all US models by end 2010

Auto Industry | January 31 2005

GM, announcing the plan at the weekend’s NADA convention in the US, believes it would be the first vehicle manufacturer to make both OnStar telematics and electronic chassis stability control features standard across its entire fleet.

OnStar will be included on all vehicles in the 2007 model year, while stability control will be standard on all GM SUVs and minivans by the end of 2007 and on all GM light vehicles by the end of 2010.

The emergency medical and public safety leaders of the ComCARE Alliance praised GM’s decision to make its OnStar telematics system standard equipment; OnStar includes Automatic Crash Notification (ACN), alerting emergency services to an accident and pinpointing its location via GPS, without requiring the driver of a crashed car to do so.
