French police have arrested a man armed with a knife and Taser gun for breaking into Nicolas Sarkozy's presidential palace in Paris.
The 25-year-old 'was dragged down and held at gunpoint' as he tried to slip past guards at the main entrance of the Elysee Palace on Monday afternoon, The Daily Mail reported.
A knife and a Taser-type weapon that fires high-voltage electric darts was confiscated from the intruder, a police official said.
'The security team that protects the president are treating this attempted breach of security as an attempt on his (Sarkozy) life,' the official added.

The man, who tried to enter the palace while Sarkozy was meeting Montenegro's Premier Milo Djukanovic, is currently 'being held in custody and questioned about his intentions', Police say.
The incident occurred, less than 48 hours after staunch Sarkozy ally the US President George W. Bush became subject to a shoe attack in Iraq.
The 29-year-old Muntadhar al-Zaidi, a correspondent for al-Baghdadiya satellite channel, threw his shoes at Bush during a press conference on Sunday.
