In an effort to combat vandalism at Westside Park in Richland the city plans to install four surveillance cameras.

Richland fields supervisor Jeff Payne said the neighborhood park located at Industrial Drive and Brandon Avenue has experienced repeated incidents of destruction and vandalism recently.

?Now we?ll be able to record what?s happening there live and have Internet access to view whenever we want,? Payne said. ?We don?t know exactly what times people have been breaking into the park.?

This week the Richland Board of Alderman approved more than $7,000 worth of surveillance equipment for the park and its concession stand.

The equipment is expected to be installed after the first of the year.
