Charity Wants Kids Banned From Sitting On Santa's Knee

A CHILDREN'S charity wants kids banned from sitting on Father Christmas's knee.

Some parents have already voiced fears that they do not know the credentials of the store grotto Santas cuddling their offspring.

And the Kidscape protection group followed up yesterday by saying: "It's a shame, but you can't vet all the people dressed as Santa and there's no need to take the risk. They shouldn't sit on his knee."

Some shopping centres are even installing spy cameras in grottoes to protect Father Christmas from allegations of abuse.

But the Churches' Child Protection Advisory Service urged people not to be alarmed, saying: "We don't wish to take innocent fun out of Christmas.

"What's needed is common sense and guidelines."
