Facebook has made sweeping changes to its privacy policy after complaints
about it handing the personal details of tens of millions of users
to private companies.
The social networking website routinely gives sensitive information
- including ages, interests and personal messages - to almost a million
third-party firms worldwide.
Campaigners claimed that users were not made aware of exactly what
would be done with their details.
The information is used to develop games and quizzes for the site.
But following criticism of the system, all third parties wishing to
use the information will have to take more responsibility for ensuring
users are made fully aware of how their personal information will
be used.
