Seized crew 'all admit trespass' BBC The 15 Britons held by Iran have accepted they were picked up in its waters, Iranian state radio says. It reported film of all the Royal Navy personnel giving details existed but would not be shown because of an apparent shift in the UK's policy. At the weekend, Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said a diplomatic note had been sent to the Iranians. The Foreign Office said it stood by its view the crew had been detained against their will in Iraqi territory. "We have not had consular access, we have made it quite clear they were seized in Iraqi waters, and we want them released," a spokesman said. Four crew members have so far been seen on TV saying they had entered Iran's waters. The Foreign Office has said showing the group, detained in the northern Gulf on 23 March, on TV is "unacceptable". BBC diplomatic correspondent James Robbins said the screening of the latest footage "poisoned the climate" but it should not suggest diplomacy was not working. Student protests The latest TV footage shows Royal Marine Capt Chris Air and Lt Felix
Carman in front of a chart of the Gulf. It said the details would not be broadcast because of "changes seen in the last two days in the clamorous British government policies". The Britons, based on HMS Cornwall, were seized by Revolutionary Guards as they returned from searching a vessel in the northern Gulf. In the latest footage shown on the Al-Alam satellite channel, Capt Air is shown describing how the group was captured. He said Iranian maps apparently showed the group was inside Iranian territorial waters while Lt Carman said he understood why Iran was angry. He went on to say that the crew had been "treated very well". Lt Carman also pointed to the map to indicate where the crew had been captured and said he understood why the Iranians were "angry about the intrusion". Previously broadcast footage on Al-Alam showed Leading Seaman Faye Turney and Nathan Summers. On Sunday, Iranian students threw stones and firecrackers at the British embassy in the capital Tehran in protest against what they said was the "illegal entry" into their waters by the UK personnel. --------------------------------------------------- Prison Planet.tv: The Premier Multimedia Subscription Package: Download and Share the Truth!
